Melville House is located in Johannesburg in the leafy, bohemian suburb of Melville.

 

The property is around 6.4 km from Gold Reef City and 6.6 km from Apartheid Museum.  Perfect base for day trips and various museums, markets, shopping hubs and various other activities like Gold Reef City theme park.

The nearest airport is O.R. Tambo International Airport, 24.1 km from the property and we are in close vacinity to various hospitals and the University of Johannesburg.

Rates  :

Dorm bed Rates start from R220 per bed

Double rooms start from R590 for double rooms with shared bathrooms

Double rooms with ensuite bathrooms from R690 per room.

Facilities :

The establishment  is a self catering and within walking distance of the social hub of Melville , which has various restaurants and night life establishments.

There is variety of shops within walking distance and the property is close to the SABC,  University of Johannesburg and the nearby Hospital. Uber, Taxi services and food delivery is available in the area so please make use of the Uber/  Bolt or other transport services when travelling at night or to restaurants.  

 

The property consists of the following :

2 x  kitchens for self catering facilities, gas stoves, microwaves, fridges and all cutlery and crockery provided.

• Pool area for summer entertainment and cool down in the summer heat

• Outside relaxation areas and tables for warmer nights and relaxing in summer. 

• Braai facilities for guests to use at their convenience.

• 2 x dining rooms:  top house can seat up to 16 guests and the second dining room can accommodate up to 24 guests. 

• Lounge and relaxation area with books to read or just sit and relax on cold winter day. 

• Free Wifi available
   

Dormitories/ Hostel:

 3  big dormitories which can accommodate 35 people: The dormitories are single bunk beds and split into male and female dorm and a 6 sleeper dormitory for smaller groups. Dormitories share bathroom facilities, and each client is provided with locker for your belongings.

 

Please note these rooms and all facilities are shared with other clients and that if you require more privacy do not want to sleep in a dorm, we have other options and private rooms available.

 
Linen is provided in all rooms and there are two communal kitchens where tea and coffee are available for guests at all times.

Terms & Conditions

The reception works 07:00 – 22:00,

However night supervisors are available on the property to accommodate from 22:00 – 7am in the mornings. 

Cancellation policy: 7 days before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay. 

Late cancellation within 48 hours or no show you will be charged for the full amount.

2 or 3 night booking will have to pay a 50% deposit and the balance upon arrival. 

Please take note that a refundable R100 breakage and key deposit is required upon arrival and will be refunded as soon as room checks are done upon departure.

Check in from 14:00 to 22:00  .

Check out  : 10 am in the morning( late checkouts can be arranged)
